Position:

Geospatial Outreach Specialist

GRANT-FUNDED position - Employment contingent upon available funding.

Starting Date:

As soon as possible.

Job Description:

Responsible for outreach activities across several technical application domains in the geospatial sciences for the Columbia Regional Geospatial Service Center (CRGSC). Responsible for the acquisition, distribution, and promotion of remote sensing and other geospatial data and applications through education, research, and outreach activities. Entails travel, primarily within Texas . Reports to the Assistant Director for Education and Training (ADET). This position is security sensitive.

Professional Requirements or
Special Skills:

A Bachelor's degree in Geospatial Technology, Geography, Natural Sciences, or related field preferred. At least 5 years of experience with GIS and related technologies and demonstrated ability to work with governmental entities. Experience with emergency management agencies will be considered.  General knowledge of geospatial technology.  Working knowledge of ArcGIS, Leica Imagine, and other geospatial software.  Knowledge of, and experience producing and maintaining, metadata for geospatial data.  Basic knowledge of database technologies, particularly in regard to geospatial storage.  Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to present information effectively and respond to questions from collaborators including political entities, NGOs, and others.  Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.  Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms.  Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
