Service Provider-Post Production Captionist

Job Description:

Ability to caption videos for University departments; ability to prepare post-production captioning, on prerecorded videos; ability to use an encoder, VCR, computer, monitor, and a VHS player and recorder to caption on prerecorded videos; work is performed under the supervision of the Director of Disability Services, and duties are assigned as needed.

Professional Requirements or
Special Skills:

High school diploma or equivalent required; some college course work preferred; six months experience with professional broadcasting and/or video editing preferred, in addition to familiarity with Cheetah captioning systems required; typing 60 wpm/computer. Must possess good command of English language, including possessing accurate grammar, spelling and editorial abilities; must possess excellent interpersonal skills and be flexible with work schedule; must be capable of meeting deadlines and willing to learn software used in captioning videos, if not familiar with this software; must be able to maintain confidentiality when working with persons with disabilities; must be computer proficient and able to operate video/audio technology; ability to work well with students, University staff, and the general public provide captioned videos as needed.

Salary:

$10.70/hr.
