Faculty Development Program
ORSP's Faculty Development Program includes a series of workshops, seminars, informal meetings, and outreach activities designed to inform, train and support faculty as they pursue external funding.
INFORM
- Faculty Interest Survey - Answer a few simple questions about your professional interests and let ORSP staff do the rest. We will put your information into a database and e-mail you relevant grant solicitations as they arise.
- The ORSP Blog - Updated weekly, the blog contains solicitations with wide appeal, changes to external and internal policies and the latest sponsor news.
- One-on-One Meetings with Faculty - ORSP staff meet each year with new faculty (and not-so-new faculty that want the extra attention) to discuss the services ORSP provides to assist in the quest for tenure, promotion, and professional recognition through grantsmanship.
- Grants and Contracts Procedures Manual - This online document includes everything you need to know to write, submit, and manage a successful grant. Each section can be accessed through the ORSP web pages or you can navigate directly through the manual.
- ORSP (E)Mailing List - Weekly e-mails provide interested parties with information on new forms, procedures, funding notices, and other updates.
- Double Shot Wednesdays (coffee and a "get out of jail free" card) - Join ORSP staff in LAN 421 for coffee and talk the first Wednesday of each month from 8-9 am. Bring your questions, suggestions, and ideas.
TRAIN
- New Award Orientation - PIs, PDs, grant staff, and department administration are provided with an overview of the award, notified of relevant sponsor and SFA rules and regulations, and instruction in sponsor and SFA procedures to assist with effective project management.
- Workshops - ORSP offers opportunities to learn about the types of funding available, how to locate funding sources, the steps in developing proposals and project budgets, and post-award and compliance topics.
- Bring ORSP to You - Our staff is available for training or information sessions for colleges and departments. Let us know when you're meeting and we can offer presentations of varying lengths on a variety of topics.
SUPPORT
- Staff and Services ORSP can guide you along the path to success. New grant orientation ensures that you have the information you need to manage your award. Technical assistance is available on demand.
- Internal Funding Apply for an internal faculty research grant or a mini-grant. These university funds are managed by the Director of ORSP and can provide seed money that lead to larger, externally funded projects.
