Dr. Shiyou Li, Forestry
In his twenty years of medicinal plant research, Dr. Shiyou Li of the College of Forestry/Agriculture has discovered nine new plant species and developed thirty new natural products from medicinal plants, including a derivative of the Camptotheca acuminata plant's fruit used in creating medications to treat colon, lung, and ovarian cancer. Dr. Li, director of the National Center for Pharmaceutical Crops, is pictured on the left.
