Course Requirements

The requirements for the thesis based masters degree in Resource Interpretation are 30 credit hours consisting of 12 credit hours of core graduate level coursework, 12 credit hours of restricted graduate level electives, and 6 credit hours of thesis.

The requirements for the non thesis based masters degree are 36 credit hours consisting of 12 credit hours of core graduate level coursework, 21 credit hours of restricted graduate level electives and 3 credit hours of Problem Analysis. This course is to be taken during the last semester and requires the student to develop and complete a scope of work and then prepare a presentation/paper/poster suitable for presentation at a professional conference.

Whether taking the thesis or non thesis track all courses must be approved by the student's advisory committee and are subject to approval by the Associate Dean of ATCOFA.

During your first semester students must consult with their major professor and develop an advisory committee. This committee will consist of no fewer than three members of the graduate faculty; two must be from the ATCOFA. The advisory committee, chaired by the major professor, will then assist the student in the development of a degree plan If a student does not have a degree plan on file by the time they have taken 12 credit hours a registration hold will be placed on their account until a degree plan has been turned in.
