How to Apply to the Program?

Step 2 Arthur Temple College of Forestry and Agriculture Graduate Program Application

DEADLINES FOR APPLICATION:

Fall term - August 1
Spring term - December 1
Summer I - April 1
Summer II - June 1

Prior to applying we ask all potential students to contact either Dr. Theresa Coble or Dr. Pat Stephens Williams. Please visit our faculty website to find a faculty member who has similar research interests. Once you have contacted the faculty member she must agree to be your major advisor before you may apply to our graduate program.

Application materials:

  1. Letter of Application. Please reference in your letter the professor that has agreed to be you major advisor. Also, you will need to indicate in your letter whether you will be seeking the thesis or non-thesis route. See instructions regarding Letter of Application below

  2. Two Letters of Reference.
    Letters of Reference should be from college/university professors and/or interpretive supervisors who have knowledge of the applicant's academic and research potential in the field of interpretation. We ask that letters of reference be written on official letterhead. Letters may be sent via email as an attachment in pdf form to hwilliams@sfasu.edu or mailed to:

Instructions regarding the Letter of Application
Applicants are asked to submit a letter of application that details:

(1) academic training in interpretation and in their area of subject matter expertise,(2) professional experience in the field of interpretation, and (3) interests and goals relating to graduate study in interpretation. In addition, NPS employees should specify their involvement in the IDP program thus far, if any.

Please note: Applicants for the Masters of Science degree in Resource Interpretation Program must be in their final semester of undergraduate study or have completed a 4-year degree from an accredited institution.


Register for Courses

1. Once you have been admitted to the masters or certificate program, you will need to set up your mySFA account to register, receive emails, billing information, any updates or news sent out by SFA. Please click on the following link to set up your account:

2. Prior to registering you must be permitted into class. Call Mary Ramos at 936-468-1365 for a permit. Once permitted, go to your mySFA account to register for class as well as pay for your tuition.
