Key Facts about the College

The College of Liberal & Applied Arts is building a reputation for its innovative and creative approaches to issues of regional, national, and international importance. Here are a few things to help you know who we are and what we are doing.

PROFILE
The College of Liberal and Applied Arts is a major presence at SFA, accounting for 34% of the Unversity's total credit hours and 26% of its undergraduate majors.
Over 90% of regular faculty members have terminal degrees.
   
STUDENTS
The College enrolled 2,973 undergraduate students as majors during the Fall 2007 semester.
The College houses six of the top fifteen majors at SFASU: Psychology (#4), Radio/Television (#8), Journalism (#10), History (#11), English (#14), and Political Science (#15).
More than 20 scholarships and fellowships are available for students in the College.
Secondary teaching certificates are available in Speech Communication, English, French, History, Social Studies, and Spanish.
Graduate programs are offered in Communication, English, History, Interdisciplinary Programs, Public Administration, Psychology, and Social Work.
   
REPUTATION
The College has acquired over $430,000.00 in grant funding over the past twelve months.
Four Regents professors are among the College faculty;.
The College has nationally ranked teams in Debate and Moot Court.
The ROTC program recently ranked #4 out of 272 programs nationwide.
The student newspaper, The Pine Log, won the top university newspaper award in 2002.
