The BA in Liberal Studies offers students the opportunity to work with faculty to design individualized degree programs that may serve their educational and career goals better than a traditional major. Liberal Studies provides a framework within which students can combine courses from different disciplines across the University into an area of concentration that creates a unique and targeted educational experience. Some examples of Liberal Studies concentrations include Environmental Geography, Philosophy and Bio-Ethics, Students who seek admission to the Liberal Studies program should have completed at least 24 semester credit hours at SFA at the time of application and must submit a short essay outlining the course of study. Application materials must be approved by at least two regular faculty members. For more information contact Dr. Mark Barringer.
