Application Instructions for College Graduates Seeking a Graduate Degree

Once you have identified a program to which you want to apply and believe you meet the admission requirements, follow these simple steps.

  1. Submit a Graduate School Application
    There are two options for filling out a graduate school application:
    1. Complete the SFA Graduate School Application Form SFA Graduate School Application
      • Attach the form to an e-mail and send to gschool@sfasu.edu OR
      • Print the form and mail (see Mailing Instructions, below).
    1. Complete the Texas Common Application for Admission
      • This application may be submitted electronically.
      • NOTE: The Texas Common Application is not processed as quickly as the SFA Graduate School Applicaiton.

  2. Order Transcripts (Click here to order transcripts)
    Once the application from has been completed and submitted, the next step in the application process is to order transcripts from the schools previously attended and have them sent to the Graduate School at SFA. (NOTE: If you are a graduate of SFA, you do not need to order a transcript from SFA.)

Official transcripts from each college/university attended must be sent to the Graduate School at least 30 days prior to entering.

Click here for a list of colleges to obtain information about ordering transcripts from them. If your school isn't listed, please e-mail us and let us know.

  1. Pay the Application Fee
    A non-refundable $25 application fee is required for all programs. Applications will not be processed without an application fee. Please make your check or money order payable to: Stephen F. Austin State University and mail it to the Graduate School (see Mailing Instructions, below).

  2. Send Your Test Scores
    Official GRE scores (GMAT scores for business majors) must be submitted to the Graduate School, if required by the program. See Programs and Degrees.

  3. Provide Additional Documents (as needed)
    Contact your major department to see if additional documentation is required for your program.
