The purpose of the graduate program in mathematics and statistics are: (1) to offer preparation to those who are planning a doctoral program in mathematics and/or statistics, (2) to train persons to hold teaching positions in colleges, universities, or public schools, and (3) to train persons to serve as mathematics or statisticians in buisness and industry.
