This list was given to the deans with a request that they give a response to the Provost about what should be done with these programs. A handout was distributed that shows what has been decided about each of the programs. Some graduate majors will be deleted. Some will be retained with plans to review them in the near future. Currently there are 45 master’s programs and 2 doctoral programs.
D. Strategic Plan Oversight CommitteeA handout was distributed to council members regarding the Strategic Plan Initiatives that relate to graduate education. Two initiatives relating to graduate education are to determine ways to increase both the number of graduate programs offered by the university and the enrollment in those programs. Currently there are 45 majors that are actively used by students pursuing the master’s degree, plus the Ph.D. in Forestry and the Ed.D. in Educational Leadership. In addition to the 44 majors leading toward a master’s degree, SFA offers 6 professional certificate programs in education and 3 supplemental certificate programs in education.
