The Graduate Council met at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 200l in Room 307, Austin Building.  Mr. Beason made a motion to accept the minutes of the October 23, 2001 meeting as amended.  Dr. Kenner seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

 

I.       Announcements

 

         A.      Graduates of Public Administration

 

                  This December we will have the first graduates of the Public Administration                 Program.

 

         B.      Graduate Bulletin

 

                  The Graduate Bulletin has been revised and has gone to press.  The bulletin                           should be ready for distribution during the early part of the spring semester.

 

         C.      Kolar Advertising

 

                  The Board of Regents awarded a contract to Kolar Advertising for creating a                 marketing plan for Stephen F. Austin.  One of the priorities of the                             advertising program is to increase the graduate enrollment.  They are                      preparing radio and television spot announcements about Stephen F. Austin                 by getting information by going to www.gosfa.com.

 

         D.      New Graduate Application

 

                  The main change in the graduate application is the expansion of the                                     residency information required by the Texas Legislature to include more                      information than what was needed in the past.  The applications can be                       picked          up in the Graduate Office or in Printing.

 

 

 

 

II.      Old Business

                  Dr. Jeffrey has reviewed and given administrative approval to the following                  Graduate Faculty membership applications:

                  Dr. Mueller made a motion to accept the memberships as presented.                           Dr. Scharff seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

                  Dr. Bradfield made a motion for associate membership.  Dr. Mueller                           seconded the motion.  The motion passed.

 

         B.      HB1641

 

                  Discussion took place regarding admission criteria which was implemented                            by HB1641.  Discussion was tabled for further discussion at the next                         meeting.

 

Mr. Beason made a motion to adjourn.  The motion was seconded by Dr. Mueller.          The meeting adjourned at 4:10 p.m.
