The SFA campus is situated in the
heart of the east Texas Piney Woods region. The campus is wooded
with many native species, including 100+ year-old pine trees. SFA
is located near five wilderness areas, four national forests, several
million areas of private forests, and two of the largest man-made
lakes in the country. The Piney
Woods Conservation Center is located adjacent to Lake Sam Rayburn,
one of those lakes. Students in the ATCOF take advantage of these
resources for hands-on education, research, and recreational opportunities.
