Future Conclaves
The schedule for hosting Conclave was set years ago but due to several
unforseen circumstances it is now in need of serious revision. Alabama
A&M has been admitted to the ASFC and LSU has withdrawn its participation.
Oklahoma State dropped out before they were scheduled to host it in
1998 (they have since re-joined); Virginia Tech was supposed to host
in 2005 but they volunteered to replace OSU in 1998 and thus did not
want to repeat as host in 2005. La Tech was supposed to follow Virginia
Tech in rotation but they indicated they could not host in 2005 on such
short notice. Tennessee was next in line but they too declined to take
the early opportunity to host in '05. The Sylvans of SFA were scheduled
to host in 2008, but since you are reading this from SFA's website,
you know that SFA stepped up and volunteered as your '05 Conclave host.
We are pleased to do so but will not host on our regularly scheduled
turn in 2008. Therefore, the following rotation is proposed:

Housing and Accommodations
There
are numerous motels/hotels in
Nacogdoches. Visitor information can be accessed through the Nacogdoches
Visitor and Convention Bureau. There are not any public campgrounds
close to Nacogdoches. Camping will be allowed in designated areas within
the grounds of the Exposition Center. There are several large covered
sheds and current plans are to utilize these for camping; you would
set your tents up under the sheds!
ASFC Constitution
The ASFC Constitution is published in every edition of The Southern
Forester. As many of you are aware, the Deans/Department Heads
of the universities represented by the member clubs have requested that
the constitution be revised to include language specific to the handling
of situations where disciplinary actions may be warranted. To that end,
a subcommittee of the Faculty Advisors has addressed the concerns expressed
by the Deans and submitted the revisions to the advisors of the member
clubs for their approval. the attached revised Revised
ASFC Constitution has been approved by the advisors and approval
by individual club presidents is being sought. A vote on this issue
will be conducted by email vote in January, 2005. Please click here
to see the Original
ASFC Constitution.
