Chemistry 531/536
Course Objective: The
objective of this class is to explain theoretical inorganic chemistry and to
apply this understanding to problem solving involving critical thinking. This knowledge is to prepare the student for
additional coursework, either in chemistry or in other disciplines, and to help
the student function in a technological society.
Student Learning Outcomes: the student will need to demonstrate and apply the following basic principles to problem solving:
·
The student will need to demonstrate the basic principles of symmetry and
group theory.
·
The student will need to demonstrate the basic principles of periodicity.
·
The student will need to demonstrate the basic principles of metals.
·
The student will need to demonstrate the basic principles of structure
determination of inorganic compounds.
