Chemistry 241
Course Objective:
The objective of this class is to give you a basic explanation of descriptive inorganic chemistry and to apply this knowledge to problem solving involving critical thinking.
Student
Learning Outcomes: The student will need to recognize and apply
the following basic principles to problem solving:
·
The student will need to apply the basic
principles of periodic law as used in chemistry to make predictions concerning
the properties of selected elements.
· The student will need to illustrate an understanding of the relative properties of the elements within a family of the representative elements.
· The student will need to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles radioactivity.
· The student will need to apply the basic principles of crystal field theory.
· The student will need to illustrate an understanding of the relative properties of the elements within a family of transition elements.
· The student will need to demonstrate an understanding of the basic principles of symmetry.
