Dr. Taylor joined the biology faculty in 1992. Dr. Taylor earned her B.S. degree in Agricultural Education from Stephen F. Austin and her Ph.D. degree in Plant Pathology from the University of Georgia. Following completion of her doctoral degree in 1990 , Dr. Taylor spent the next 2 years as a postdoctoral research associate in the Biology Department at Texas A&M University.
Dr. Taylor maintains active research in the areas of plant pathology and mycology. Her major interests include host-pathogen interactions in fungal diseases of plants and mechanisms of plant disease resistance. Graduate student projects completed in her laboratory have included investigations of oak leaf blister, black spot of rose, and leaf spot on ornamentals such as rose and holly. Students working in her lab gain experience in light and electron microscopy, as well as in the culturing and identification of fungi.
