Jason Fritzler, Ph.D.

Dr. Jason Fritzler joined the biology faculty in the Fall of 2008. A native of New Deal, Texas, Dr. Fritzler earned both his B.S. in Animal Science, and his Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology from Texas A&M University.

Dr. Fritzler maintains active research primarily in molecular and biochemical parasitology. His primary research focuses on the fatty acid metabolic processes in the protozoan parasite Cryptosporidium parvum. Secondarily, he is collaborating with the College of Forestry in discovering potential chemotherapeutic agents against C. parvum and Plasmodium facliparum (malaria). Other parasitology research involves protozoan parasites in the federally endangered Attwater's prairie chicken. Additionally, Dr. Fritzler is actively pursuing antimicrobial resistant bacterial infections of veterinary importance.
