Dr. Jason Fritzler joined the biology faculty in the
Fall of 2008. A native of New Deal, Texas, Dr. Fritzler earned both
his B.S. in Animal Science, and his Ph.D. in Veterinary Microbiology
from Texas A&M University.
Dr. Fritzler maintains active research primarily in molecular and
biochemical parasitology. His primary research focuses on the fatty
acid metabolic processes in the protozoan parasite Cryptosporidium
parvum. Secondarily, he is collaborating with the College of Forestry
in discovering potential chemotherapeutic agents against C. parvum
and Plasmodium facliparum (malaria). Other parasitology research
involves protozoan parasites in the federally endangered Attwater's
prairie chicken. Additionally, Dr. Fritzler is actively pursuing
antimicrobial resistant bacterial infections of veterinary importance.
