Organismal Biology


Course Description:
This course will survey the biology of fishes, from systematics to community ecology. The lecture component will cover the diversity of fish as well as the evolution and variability of reproduction, physiology, behavior, and population and community ecology. The lab component will concentrate on taxonomy and diversity of fish with emphasis on the local fauna. Field trips, possibly overnight on weekends, are included and may be mandatory

Catalog Description: 3 semester hours, 2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week. The classification, evolution, natural history, and distribution of amphibians and reptiles. Techniques for collection and preservation of museum specimens. Field trips required. Prerequisite: Four semesters of biology. Lab fee $10. Travel fee required.
