Ecology & Evolutionary Biology


Course Description: This course will survey the biology of amphibians and reptiles, from systematics to community ecology. The lecture component will cover the diversity of amphibian and reptile forms as well as the evolution and variability of reproduction, physiology, behavior, and population and community ecology. The lab component will concentrate on taxonomy and the diversity of amphibians and reptiles with emphasis on the Texas fauna. Field trips, possibly at night and/or overnight on weekends, are included and may be mandatory.

Catalog Description: 3 semester hours, 2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week. The classification, evolution, natural history, and distribution of freshwater fishes. Techniques for collection and preservation of museum specimens. Field trips required. Prerequisite: Four semesters of biology. Lab fee $10. Travel fee required.
