Course Description: An examination of the gene and gene function at the molecular level. Beginning with the structure of DNA and its replication, we advance through the mechanics of transcription (and its control), translation, and finally protein processing. New discoveries pertaining to the organization of the human genome are also included.

Catalog Description: - 3 semester hours, 3 hours lecture per week. The structure, function, and organization of DNA, DNA replication, transcription, and translation. Mechanisms of gene expression and regulation. Applications of biotechnology. Prerequisites: BIO 341 and 2 semesters of chemistry
