Plant Pathology: Bio 424
General Biology

Course Description: Plant pathology is the study of plant diseases and their impact. This course includes four major sections, each on a different group of plant
disease causing organisms or agents: fungi, bacteria, nematodes and
viruses. Students learn to identify diseases on the basis of symptom type
and causal organism, with emphasis placed on appropriate disease control
measures. The interactions between plants and their pathogens and
mechanisms of disease resistance are also discussed.

Catalog Description: Plant Pathology - 3 semester hours, 2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week. The principles of plant pathology. A survey of fungal, bacterial and viral diseases of plants. Prerequisite: Three semesters of biology, forestry or horticulture. Lab fee $10.
