Cell & Molecular Biology

 

Course Description: An in depth examination of all aspects of genetics. Transmission genetics and the passage of traits from generation to generation; Cytogenetics and the study of chromosomes, both structure and function; Molecular genetics and the study of gene function at the molecular level as well as genetic engineering; Population genetics and the behavior of genes in large interbreeding groups of individuals. While humans are emphasized, various aspects of plant genetics are also covered.

Catalog Description: 341. Genetics - 4 semester hours, 3 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week. Principles of heredity and variation and their application to plants, lower animals and man.Prerequisite: Two semesters of biology. Lab fee $10.
