General Ecology: Bio 313
Ecology & Evolutionary Biology

Course Description: Upon completion of this course students will have a thorough understanding of the basic concepts and models in individual, population, and community ecology. Students will also have the ability to apply these concepts to other situations. Course objectives include: 1) becoming familiar with major ecological concepts and terminology; 2) understanding links between ecology and other disciplines; and 3) being better able to interpret scientific evidence derived from ecological studies.

Catalog Description: 2 hours lecture, 3 hours lab per week. The principles of ecology with special reference to populations and their ecosystems, distribution, biotic communities, and environmental relationships. Field trips required. Prerequisite: Two semesters of Biology. Recommended prerequisites: BIO 370. Lab fee required. Requires concurrent enrollment in lab.
