Human Biology: Bio 123
Cell & Molecular Biology

This is a concepts oriented course for non-science majors. Thus the course consists of a broad survey of a very wide variety of topics relating to human biology. The course will include lectures on the origin of life, the cell, metabolism, reproduction, genetics and evolution. A cursory survey of the major organ systems that function together to maintian life are included. The course does not meet graduation requirements for students in the College of Sciences and Mathematics or for high school teacher certification.

Catalog Description:
Human Biology (Bio 123) - 3 semester hours, 3 hours lecture per week. Biological principles for non-science majors. A study of the evolution of man, the human organism, drugs and human behavior. This course may not be used to meet graduation requirements of students majoring in the College of Sciences and Mathematics or for certification of high school teachers in biology. This course is co-requisite with BIO 123L. Lecture and laboratory grades are computed into one grade and the same final grade is recorded for both lecture and laboratory.

Human Biology Laboratory (Bio 123L) - 1 semester hour, 2 hours laboratory per week. This laboratory is co-requisite with BIO 123 lecture. Laboratory and lecture grades are computed into one grade and the same final grade is recorded for both lab and lecture. Lab fee $20.
