Typical
First Year Schedule
What
classes will I take?
Most freshmen at SFA select the majority of their classes
from the SFA core curriculum requirements. Class selection
for undeclared majors is determined by three criteria:
the classes will fulfill the core requirements, or apply
to many majors, or allow exploration of a potential
major.

A
student's course load will depend on personal preference.
Although the typical schedule is 15-16 hours per semester,
some students opt to enroll in only 12 hours. You need
to plan on how you are going to use your time outside
of class. In addition to setting time aside for homework
and studying, some other factors to consider when making
a decision about course load are work schedule, involvment
in a fraternity or sorority, and participation in extra-curricular
activities.
Each
semester, students are required to meet with an academic
advisor to discuss course scheduling for the upcoming
term. The advisor will help you to determine what classes
to take, but you are ultimately responsible for your
own registration.
