2003 Call For Papers


The National Broadcasting Society invites the submission of papers for presentation at the NBS National Convention in Miami, FL -- March 10 - 13, 2004. The paper competition is open to academics and professionals in the fields of Radio/Television, Mass Communication and related ares holding at least a baccalaureate degree. Papers relating to all aspects of electronic media communication are welcome.

There are two categories for presentation: refereed and open/invited.

REFEREED: A blind review process will jury papers submitted to this competition. The judges will comprise academicians and/or professionals from across the country. Papers submitted to this category must not be submitted elsewhere for presentation or publication. Each paper accepted for presentation in this category will be granted $125 off of the convention registration fee for one individual presenter.

OPEN/INVITED: Papers in this category will be subject to review by a committee. Presentation of papers in this category may be organized as the committee sees fit for possible panel presentation. Abstracts will be considered if the paper is not yet complete by the submission deadline. If accepted, the paper must be completed by the convention.

SUBMISSION PROCEDURES:

All papers should have a cover sheet which contains the following information:

  • Submission category (Refereed or Open/Invited)
  • Title
  • Name of author(s)
  • Institution for each author
  • Mailing address for principal submitting author
  • Phone number(s)
  • E-mail address(es) - Include an abstract of no more than 125 words in length and showing only the title of the presentation (no author or institution identification)
  • Submit 4 copies each of the abstracts and papers.
    APA style.
    Papers should not exceed 30 typed double spaced pages including references and tables.
    Names and institutions should not appear in the abstracts nor in the papers for blind review purposes.
    Presenters must attend the national convention. Information at www.nbs-aerho.org.
