Click on the Start button and select Run. Type command in the available field and click OK. At the DOS prompt, type ping 188.8.131.52.
A successful reply will start with "Reply from 184.108.40.206: bytes=32 time<..."? If the text following the ":" after the IP address starts with anything other then "bytes", the ping was not successful. See Figure 6 below for an example of a successful ping (circled in red) and an unsuccessful ping (circled in blue). Note: The IP address that appears in your output should be 220.127.116.11.
Was at least one successful reply received?
|Yes. Go to 7.|
|No. The "Request timed out."|
|If this is the first time a ping attempt has failed, go to 8.|
|If you have completed the troubleshooting process beginning at item 8 and this is the second time a ping attempt has failed, go to 16.|
