| 1. | Who can I contact with questions about the campus Ethernet network? | ||
| SFA's Telecommunications & Networking department maintains a web site for SFA's Residential Network (ResNet) at http://resnet.sfasu.edu/. Here you can find helpful information and resources, including a page with helpful e-mail links that you can use to "contact us"--http://resnet.sfasu.edu/contact.htm. You can also visit the SFANet/ResNet Support Forums at http://resnet.sfasu.edu/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi to post your questions there. The forums are monitored by volunteers from within the Telecommunications & Networking department as well as others within the SFA community. All of these web resources are available from any Internet-capable computer system, twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. | |||
| Who can I contact if I am having problems getting connected to the campus Ethernet network? | |||
For troubleshooting assistance with connectivity problems, you can contact the SHACK at 1514 Baker St at 468-HELP (4357). Their staff of technicians can walk you through some basic troubleshooting steps to verify proper system configuration. If necessary, they will generate a work request for networking staff to perform more indepth troubleshooting of the network cabling and equipment. For those who like to "do-it-yourself," there is a ResNet Support
CD available at the front desk of every residence hall or available on
request by sending an e-mail to resnet-cd@sfasu.edu. This CD contains
an interactive troubleshooting guide for both Windows and Macintosh users.
It will walk you through the troubleshooting process step-by-step. |
